Say hello to my tiny bespectacled eyes

Here is yesterday's marshmallow-y outfit. See, I try to avoid looking disgustingly prissy most of the time but sometimes it just happens. 

Hat: vintage // Bow: Asos // Jacket: vintage // Lace shirt: Asos // Skirt: second hand // Shoes: vintage

I am actually really short sighted and am always wearing either glasses or contact lenses. Why do I never wear me specs in outfit pictures though? First, because I am so short sighted the lenses makes my eyes look absolutely tiny. Therefore, if it's a glasses day, it's an ugly day. The second reason is a little more odd but if you wear glasses you might know what I mean. On days where I wear glasses, I feel more timid and like I can't see as well. I mean, I can. The prescription is totally fine. But my eyes feel like they are looking through something on my face, not like they are just looking and seeing. I'm pretty sure I talk more quietly, I'm more nervous about leaving the house, and I just feel weird. However! For the sake of my eyes, I have to get used to wearing glasses more often (you'd think it wasn't an issue for someone who's been wearing glasses since she was 10, but there you go). So here are some speccy photos I like from which to draw inspiration.

    I have a strong myopia, I can't live without glasses or contact lenses. When I wear my glasses, it's only for the "ugly days", as you said. It's a part of me I want to hide, but when I can't, I feel uncomfortable and not pretty at all. My eyes are also very tiny behind the glasses, and I have the impression to wear something weird on my face. I shouldn't feel that way, but well, I prefer my face without glasses.

    Anyway, yours suits you perfectly. I like the color and the shape, and how you match them with the outfit. You could wear them more often, really, it's not bad at all ! You still look pretty :-)

    I do! I do wear glasses...
    I feel very comfortable with them, and I hardly ever wear contact lenses because I'm a dentist and I'm afraid I might get something into my eyes.

    Your glasses look fantastic on you! I also suffer with the problem of having to wear ridiculously thick specs whenever I can't face contact lenses (plus the ever-present fear that I might lose them in public and be rendered semi-blind) so you have my sympathy on that one! But you look fab with them, and styled them so well :)

      Oh my goodness I was JUST looking at your blog, weird (I believe I was googling pinafores). Love the idea of upcycled clothes!

      And yes exactly hahaa! If I lost my glasses I would literally not be able to find my way around. Perhaps that is where the nervousness comes from.

    I'm so glad you posted this! i feel the same when i'm wearing my glasses, it feels less 'personal' when i talk to someone and my eyes look small too :D But when i'm not wearing my glasses people notice and tell me i look nice with them too, but i just can't believe it :D thanks for the inspiring photos :)

    Oh my goodness, you look like a magical picture book character! So perfect <3

    And urghh I feel you about glasses wearing weirdness. I have Middle Eastern and Jewish heritage so am blessed with a super big nose which I am quite self conscious of. I always worry that it looks like I'm wearing joke shop Groucho Marx glasses! :S

    Also I have only just discovered your blog and I LOVE it, can't wait to go through all your tutorials ^o^
